Orpheus Chamber Orchestra

 Anne Akiko Meyers, Violin

One of the world’s premier concert violinists, Ms. Meyers brings her powerful musical sensitivity to Mendelssohn’s beloved concerto, a work of cohesion and pathos that capped the composer’s orchestral output. Schubert’s Symphony No. 5, penned at the age of 19, honors his debt to Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven while pointing the way toward his own Romantic voice. Timo Andres, a Brooklyn-based Millennial, has composed a new work for Orpheus that features crisp and energetic writing with a deep connection to past composers. The program opens with a suite from French composer Rameau’s opera Les Boréades.
