  • About Vladimir Spivakov and Moscow Virtuousi Chamber Orchestra:

Vladimir Spivakov, one of the world’s prominent violinists and conductors, leads his acclaimed Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra in a program of Italian Baroque works by Vivaldi, Rossini, and Boccherini—plus Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, a lush masterpiece that helped to define the late Romantic era.

Ever since Spivakov founded the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra in 1979, he and his ensemble have set the gold standard for chamber music performance. Hand-picked by Spivakov, each orchestra member is a ranking soloist drawn from the principal chairs of Russia’s greatest orchestras. For this program, Spivakov, himself a violin virtuoso, will be the soloist in a varied program of music for strings. Rounding out the evening is Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings.

  • Praise for Moscow Virtuosi:

- “The Moscow Virtuosi live up to their name” The New York Times

- “This is unquestionably a world-class group, whose visits here are too rare” The Washington Post
