  • About the Concert:

New York Baroque Incorporated opens its 5th season with a program of trio sonatas and motets by 17th and 18th-century composers in the lineage of the Roman School, from Arcangelo Corelli, who inspired generations of musicians, to operatic geniuses Alessandro Scarlatti and G.F. Handel.

In her NYBI debut, soprano Sherezade Panthaki—called “an Anna Netrebko of baroque music”—sings motets of Scarlatti, Bonporti, and Handel. Richard Egarr, music director of the Academy of Ancient Music, also makes his inaugural NYBI appearance on harpsichord and organ.

  • About NYBI:
New York Baroque Incorporated is a conductorless orchestra of young players on period instruments in New York City, bringing vital, informed, and fresh performances of a wide range of 17th and 18th-century repertoire, and creating a vibrant landscape for collaborations between historical performance and living composers. Since its creation, NYBI has received critical praise for its virtuosity, and was lauded by The New York Times for its “do-it-yourself spirit.”
