  •  About the Production:

This March, The Russian Arts Theater and Studio opens its 2017-2018 season with one of the greatest masterpieces of the 20th century: Anton Chekhov’s THREE SISTERS, main feature of the New York Chekhov Festival. Critically acclaimed Russian director Aleksey Burago stages this tragicomic story about the decay of a privileged family grappling with the changes of a modern world.

Following the death of their army officer father, the Moscow-born and bred Prozorov siblings find themselves living in a remote provincial town, trapped inside the memories of their glorious past. Only the proximity of a nearby artillery post and the company of its officers make their existence bearable. As they fumble for purpose admist the clutter of awkward suitors, clumsy birthday presents, absurd squabbles and raging house fires, only one desire remains undimmed: to return to Moscow!

  • About The Russian Arts Theater & Studio:

The Russian Arts Theater & Studio was founded in 2004 by Artistic Director Aleksey Burago and actress Snezhana Chernova. They brought forward their extensive study and experience in hopes of creating a New York theater company that would pass on the rich theater traditions and practices of Stanislavsky and Michael Chekhov, as well as introducing lesser-known Russian repertoire to American audiences. The company has provided many critically-acclaimed shows for the New York community, including adaptations, new translations, short stories & plays—-from Hans Christian Andersen to Anton Chekhov to Tennessee Williams.
