Enter a twisted world where reality shifts beneath your feet and the unexpected awaits at every corner. These moral tales for grown ups will chill your blood and tempt your soul. Come for some sadistic fun and prepare to be surprised.

- Billy Bob Boils the Sea:

Two angels are banished from the heavens for falling in love. They are reborn on Earth as a sea creature and a drummer boy. When the two meet by chance at the seashore, they are mysteriously drawn to each other. The boy is determined to win her love and defy the gods..by attempting the impossible. Physical theater bursting with dream-like characters, visual magic and dazzling acrobatic feats, this tale of love and courage will enchant children and adults alike. Join us on this surrealistic journey and discover the boundless possibilities of the imagination.

- The King is Dead! Long Live the King!

This deliciously unpredictable comedy show is part physical comedy, part improv, and one hundred percent provocative fun. In a faraway land, a king was found murdered in his sleep. Fearing the same outcome, no one has dared to step forward to seize the throne…except a strange band of foreigners. Claiming to have expertise and profound wisdom, they will stoop to anything to win the throne. Join us for a hilarious interactive evening as we spin out of control and into the absurd.

  • About Russian Arts Theater & Studio (RATS)

Previously known as The Russian Arts Theater & Studio, the company was founded in 2004 by Artistic Director Aleksey Burago and acclaimed actress Snezhana Chernova. The couple both graduated from distinguished theater academies—namely, the Moscow Academy of Theater Arts (GITIS) and the St. Petersburgh Academy of Theater Arts. They brought forward their extensive study and experience in hopes of creating a New York theater company that would pass on the rich theater traditions and practices of Stanislavski and Michael Chekhov as well as introducing lesser-known Russian repertoire to American audiences.

The company has provided many critically-acclaimed shows for the New York community, including adaptations, new translations, short stories & plays—-from Hans Christian Andersen to Anton Chekhov to Tennessee Williams. Most recent acclaim went to ensemble member Danusia Trevino for her award-winning auto-biographical one-woman show, directed by Artistic Director, Aleksey Burago.
