  • About the Play:

After an acclaimed and sold-out run of Anton Chekhov’s lesser known short stories, Russian director Aleksey Burago returns with UNCLE VANYA, one of the most beloved plays in the Russian repertoire. A once celebrated academic whose career and health are in decline, Professor Serebryakov returns to his late spouse’s country estate with his glamorous young wife, where they bring the lives of everyone around them to utter chaos. Staged at the unusual and historic Stanton Street Shul, this production also features the striking set design of Olia Rogova.

Join The Russian Arts Theater & Studio as characters desperately fumble their way through love triangles, misunderstandings and the search for salvation.

  • About The Russian Arts Theater & Studio:

The Russian Arts Theater & Studio was founded in 2004 by Artistic Director Aleksey Burago and actress Snezhana Chernova. They brought forward their extensive study and experience in hopes of creating a New York theater company that would pass on the rich theater traditions and practices of Stanislavsky and Michael Chekhov, as well as introducing lesser-known Russian repertoire to American audiences.

The company has provided many critically-acclaimed shows for the New York community, including adaptations, new translations, short stories & plays—-from Hans Christian Andersen to Anton Chekhov to Tennessee Williams.
